About Melanie

Melanie Hamon is a writer, coffee addict, and student at Miami University, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing with minors in cello performance and rhetoric. Her favorite genre to write is creative nonfiction, but she experiments with short fiction and poetry. The best books she read last year were Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado and The Shell Game edited by Kim Adrian, and her bookshelf aesthetic is centered around a well-loved set of Sarah J Maas's Throne of Glass Series. When she is not reading or writing, Melanie can be found attempting to ride hunt seat equestrian, practicing cello, or studying elements of language in her formal research projects.

Melanie has been published creatively in ISU's Euphemism vol. 18.1 and UWM's Furrow vol 24, and has experience working with a wide range of professional writing genres and freelance work. She currently works as the Stewardship Intern at Cincinnati Children's Hospital and the Assistant Program Manager for Patronicity's CreatINg Places Program.
